Khao Bin Cave is one of the most famous and beautiful limestone caves in Ratchaburi Province. Located on Khao Bin Mountain at an elevation of approximately 200 meters above sea level, the cave lies within the Khao Krajom and Khao Bin National Reserved Forest Area. The name “Khao Bin” comes from a stalagmite formation inside the cave that resembles an eagle spreading its wings in flight, which later became the origin of the cave’s name. Today, Khao Bin Cave is recognized as one of the most important natural attractions in Ratchaburi and a popular destination for travelers seeking an impressive underground experience near Bangkok.

The cave was naturally formed through the erosion of underground water flowing through limestone layers over millions of years. This geological process created large chambers filled with spectacular stalactites and stalagmites in various shapes and sizes. Many formations inside the cave are still considered “living rocks,” with water continuously dripping and allowing the mineral formations to keep growing naturally. When illuminated by lights, these formations sparkle beautifully like crystals, creating a mysterious and enchanting atmosphere unlike ordinary caves.

The cave extends approximately 300 meters deep, with a relatively stable temperature averaging around 25 degrees Celsius throughout the year. Although the weather outside can be quite hot, the interior remains cool and humid. The walking path inside the cave has been well-developed with concrete pathways and handrails for visitor safety and convenience. Along the route, visitors will pass through several uniquely named chambers inspired by the shapes of the rock formations and local imagination, such as “Diamond Curtain,” “Shiva Sanctuary,” “Anodard Stream,” and “Heavenly Assembly Hall.” Each chamber features fascinating natural sculptures resembling temples, waterfalls, mythical creatures, and ancient architecture.

One of the most important sections of the cave is the final chamber, where visitors can see a large stalagmite formation resembling the City Pillar of Ratchaburi. • From Ratchaburi town, take Highway 3087 (Ratchaburi–Chom Bueng Road) for approximately 20 kilometers. You will see the entrance sign to Khao Bin Cave on the left-hand side. Continue for another 1.5 kilometers on a paved road leading directly to the cave entrance. The route is accessible by private car and tour buses.

• Wear comfortable and non-slip shoes because the cave interior is highly humid

• It is recommended to bring a small fan or a handkerchief, as the cave interior can feel warm and humid in some areas

• Weekdays are better for photography than weekends because there are fewer tourists

• Avoid touching the stalactites and stalagmites directly to help preserve the natural environment

• Allow approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour to fully explore all cave chambers
