“Nam Tok Chang Tok features a 10-meter-high, 20-meter-wide waterfall with strong flowing water throughout the rainy season, surrounded by lush moist forest, perfect for relaxation and close encounters with nature.”
Nam Tok Chang Tok is located within Phu Suan Sai National Park, Na Haeo District, Loei Province. It is one of the most scenic and well-known waterfalls in the park. The waterfall originates from the Phrae River, cascading over a cliff about 10 meters high and 20 meters wide, splashing onto the rocks below, creating a refreshing and cool atmosphere year-round.
The surrounding area is dense moist forest with tall trees, ferns, mosses, and epiphytic plants, providing a rich habitat for wildlife, including various species of birds, butterflies, and small aquatic animals. Visitors who enjoy observing nature can fully appreciate the area’s biodiversity.
Nam Tok Chang Tok also plays an important ecological role as a major water source for the Phrae River, which supports agriculture and communities in Na Haeo District and nearby areas. It is part of a network of well-preserved waterfalls within the park, including Nam Tok Wang Tat and Nam Tok King, allowing visitors to plan multi-waterfall trips in one day.
The best time to visit is during the rainy season, from June to October, when the waterfall has the highest and most powerful water flow. Visitors should exercise caution as trails may be slippery and currents strong, especially in areas marked with warning signs.
Access to the waterfall requires walking along the park’s nature trail, surrounded by pristine forest, providing not just a view of the waterfall but also a memorable nature trekking experience. Nam Tok Chang Tok is a must-visit destination for eco-tourists, offering a combination of impressive water flow and serene, lush natural surroundings.
