“Large river rapids with clear waterfalls and lush mixed deciduous forests. Scenic trails allow visitors to explore and enjoy the natural beauty.”

Kaeng Tana National Park is located in Khong Chiam District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, covering approximately 80 square kilometers. It was established to conserve the large river rapids, the Mun River ecosystem, and the surrounding dry dipterocarp and mixed deciduous forests, which host a rich variety of flora and fauna.

Kaeng Tana features massive rock formations made of sandstone and granite, formed over millions of years. The Mun River flows through these rocks, creating small streams and waterfalls throughout the area, offering a unique and scenic landscape. The Tana Waterfall is about 60 meters wide and 4–5 meters high, with clear, strong-flowing water during the rainy season and lower levels during the dry season, revealing the rocks beneath the surface.

The rapids have been known to local communities for hundreds of years and historically served as pathways and fishing grounds. In 1982, the area was formally surveyed and later declared a national park to protect its natural beauty and geological significance.

The park is home to diverse wildlife, including various fish species, waterfowl, forest birds, reptiles, and small mammals. The surrounding mixed deciduous forests help maintain the ecosystem and provide excellent opportunities for hiking and nature study.

Popular activities include viewing the rapids and waterfalls, river excursions, photography, and hiking along nature trails. Multiple viewpoints offer panoramic views of the rapids and river. Facilities include camping areas, visitor centers, restrooms, and basic shops for tourists.

Kaeng Tana National Park is suitable for all visitors, particularly nature enthusiasts, geology students, or those seeking relaxation amid peaceful forests and river scenery. During the dry season (November–April), the exposed rocks make exploration and sightseeing easier and more rewarding.
