“Experience the majestic second tier’s height amidst lush forests, featuring serene nature trails and stunning scenic viewpoints available all year round.”

Tad Pho Waterfall is a magnificent natural sanctuary situated within Phulangka National Park, straddling the border of Nakhon Phanom and Bueng Kan provinces. Originating from numerous streams atop the Phulangka mountain range, these waters converge into the Tad Pho Creek, creating a breathtaking multi-tiered limestone waterfall. The falls comprise four distinct levels, each offering a unique aesthetic experience. The second tier, in particular, is renowned as the focal point for visitors, featuring a towering cliff where the water cascades gracefully into a clear basin below, surrounded by a lush canopy that provides a cool, misty atmosphere throughout the day.

The ecosystem surrounding Tad Pho Waterfall is characterized by its rich biodiversity, primarily consisting of dry evergreen and mixed deciduous forests. This environment serves as a vital habitat for various rare flora and fauna, making it an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts. The trail leading to the waterfall is meticulously maintained as an ecological study route, allowing trekkers to immerse themselves in the shade of ancient trees and the ambient sounds of native bird species. Beyond its physical splendor, the site holds deep spiritual significance, often associated with local Buddhist traditions and legends of the Naga, as well as the historical presence of forest monks who sought the area’s profound tranquility for meditation.

The waterfall reaches its peak splendor during the rainy season, from June to October, when the increased water volume creates a spectacular display of white currents flowing over the dark stone tiers. To ensure visitor safety, the National Park authorities closely monitor the site and designate specific areas safe for swimming, especially during periods of high flow. Consequently, Tad Pho Waterfall is not merely a provincial landmark but a significant ecological and spiritual hub of the Upper Northeast, inviting travelers to witness the harmonious blend of Thailand’s natural heritage and cultural mystique.
