Kaeng Krachan Dam is the first earth-filled dam in Thailand, constructed across the Phetchaburi River to create a vast reservoir surrounded by mountain ranges in Phetchaburi Province. Private Car:

• From Phetchaburi, take Highway 4 (Phetkasem Road), turn right onto Highway 3499, and follow the signs directly to the dam.

Public Van:

• Take a van on the Bangkok-Kaeng Krachan route from the Southern Bus Terminal or Mo Chit, and get off at the stop in front of the dam.

Local Transport:

• Local pick-up trucks or motorcycle taxis are available from Kaeng Krachan town to take you to various viewpoints around the reservoir.

• The dam can be visited year-round, but November to January offers the best weather with calm winds.

• If you plan to cross the suspension bridge or go on a boat tour, wear secure footwear and always wear a life jacket for safety.

• The crest of the dam is the best spot for wide-angle photography; visit between 16:30 - 18:00 for the most beautiful "golden hour" lighting.
