“Marvel at breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views from a mountaintop overlooking an endless expanse of limestone island formations. Cruise through a narrow limestone passage into a hidden emerald lagoon and experience the untouched beauty of nature in the heart of the Andaman Sea.”

Hong Islands are widely recognized as one of Thailand’s most beautiful and geographically distinctive island groups. Nestled within the stunning Andaman Sea, the islands resemble a masterpiece sculpted by nature over millions of years, where dramatic limestone cliffs rise from emerald-green waters. What captivates visitors from around the world is the remarkable diversity of landscapes, combining crescent-shaped beaches, a hidden lagoon tucked within towering cliffs, and lush coastal forests within a single destination.

One of the most iconic attractions that has earned the Hong Islands international recognition is the 360-Degree Viewpoint. Designed to blend harmoniously with the natural environment, a staircase leads visitors to the island’s highest point, where breathtaking views of the surrounding “island forest” unfold. From above, dozens of limestone islands appear to float across the vast blue waters of the Andaman Sea, creating an unforgettable panorama. Below lies the enchanting Hong Lagoon, accessible through a narrow opening between limestone cliffs. As boats enter the lagoon, the atmosphere changes dramatically into one of peaceful silence, interrupted only by the gentle sounds of waves and birdsong. The calm, shallow emerald water inside resembles a giant jade gemstone hidden within nature.

The beauty of the national park extends beyond Hong Island itself to several nearby islands, each with its own unique character. Lao Lading Island, also known as Paradise Island, offers a secluded paradise surrounded by steep limestone cliffs and a small pristine beach that feels like a private movie set. Pak Bia Island is famous for its natural sandbar that emerges during low tide, connecting parts of the island and creating a stunning seascape. Visiting the Hong Islands is therefore much more than a beach excursion—it is an opportunity to experience a carefully protected marine ecosystem preserved by Than Bok Khorani National Park. The islands provide a perfect combination of adventure, relaxation, and unforgettable natural beauty amid the pristine environment of the Andaman coast.

Attractions and Highlights

  • Hong Island (Koh Lao Bileh): The largest island and the heart of the archipelago. Its most famous feature is Bileh Bay, a beautiful crescent-shaped beach with powdery white sand and crystal-clear emerald waters. It is an ideal spot for swimming, relaxing, and snorkeling along the shoreline.
  • Hong Lagoon: A hidden natural lagoon accessible through a narrow limestone passage. Inside, visitors discover a large circular lagoon enclosed by towering cliffs and lush vegetation. The tranquil atmosphere and calm emerald water create the feeling of entering a secret world.
  • Hong Island 360° Viewpoint: One of Krabi’s most famous attractions. Visitors climb 419 steps to reach the summit, where spectacular panoramic views reveal the Andaman Sea, the limestone islands of Krabi and Phang Nga Bay, and endless stretches of island-dotted horizons.
  • Lao Lading Island (Paradise Island): A small and peaceful island surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs. A secluded beach hidden within the cove offers privacy and natural beauty. Once known as a bird’s nest concession area, the island still retains its untouched charm.
  • Pak Bia Island and Rai Island: These neighboring islands are famous for their white sandbar that appears during low tide, creating a small-scale “separated sea” phenomenon. The peaceful atmosphere and unusual rock formations make them excellent locations for photography and relaxation.

How to Get There

Parking facilities are available near community piers and tourist boat terminals.
  • By Public Transportation: Take a local songthaew (shared taxi truck) on the Krabi–Ao Nang–Klong Muang route and get off at Ao Nang or Klong Muang Beach. From there, arrange a boat tour through local operators or community piers.
  • By Boat (Main Access Route): Visitors can charter a traditional long-tail boat from local community tourism groups or join a speedboat day trip departing from Noppharat Thara Beach, Ao Nang Beach, or Tubkaek Beach. Tubkaek Beach is the closest departure point, with a travel time of approximately 15–20 minutes. Boats are also available from Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai in Phang Nga Province.
