“Experience natural warm spring heat in a forested setting, faint sulfur mineral scent from geothermal activity, and a peaceful atmosphere ideal for foot soaking and relaxation near Ban Pa Kha village.”

Pong Nam Dueat is located within Si Satchanalai National Park, approximately 500 meters from Ban Pa Kha village. It lies in a lush forest watershed area surrounded by dry evergreen and mixed deciduous forest, maintaining a relatively rich natural ecosystem.

Geological Background (Geothermal System)

This area was once part of an active geothermal zone, where underground fractures allowed hot water and gases to rise naturally to the surface, creating a true “boiling spring” phenomenon. The water was clear and rich in natural minerals, especially sulfur compounds.

The characteristic rotten egg-like smell comes from hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), a common gas released in geothermal environments.

Environmental Change

In the past, the site featured active bubbling hot springs. However, due to historical mining activities and underground structural changes, geothermal pressure has significantly decreased.

Today, only a residual warm spring system remains, with noticeable warmth mainly during the winter season when air temperatures drop.

Ecosystem & Natural Value

Although the boiling activity has diminished, the area remains ecologically valuable. It serves as a natural mineral source area where wildlife such as deer, barking deer, and birds come to obtain essential minerals.

It is also an important site for studying human impact on groundwater systems and geological change.

Atmosphere & Experience

The surroundings are quiet and deeply natural, with the sounds of birds and forest ambiance. Visitors can enjoy relaxing foot soaking in warm natural water, especially after trekking in the national park.

In the early morning, light steam may rise from the surface, creating a mist-like atmosphere that enhances the serene forest experience.
