“It is one of the most challenging trekking routes in the Eastern region, reaching an elevation of 960 meters above sea level, featuring a wide rocky plateau for camping and enjoying the sunrise and the sea of fog over the rich forest of the Khao Soi Dao Wildlife Sanctuary.”
Pha Hin Kub is located south of the Khao Soi Dao mountain range and is a destination for trekkers who seek unspoiled nature and wish to test their physical endurance. The trek to conquer Pha Hin Kub is a 2-day, 1-night trip, covering a distance of approximately 6.5 - 7 kilometers and taking about 5-6 hours of walking. The trail is steep and may involve rope climbing in certain sections, earning this peak the nickname "Elephant's Back" due to the shape of the summit
The uniqueness of Pha Hin Kub lies in the integrity of its tropical rainforest along the entire route. Trekkers will experience the atmosphere of a humid mountain forest and have the chance to encounter insects and leeches, which affirm the ecosystem's abundance. The highest point of the cliff is a wide, rocky plateau with an unusual shape resembling a kub (the part of an elephant's back where the saddle is placed), and there are small caves that can be used for shelter or resting.
The most impressive experience is spending the night on the Pha Hin Kub plateau to await the morning view. As the sun slowly emerges over the horizon, a sea of fog spreads over the valley below, creating a scene that is as beautiful as heaven. It is also possible to enjoy the sunset from the peak.
Pha Hin Kub attracts adventurers and hiking enthusiasts, especially those who seek a genuine challenge and authentic access to nature. It is a favorite spot for nature photographers to capture panoramic views of the complex forest and peaks. Limiting the number of tourists (about 40 people per day) helps the area maintain its pristine and tranquil condition.
