“Japan’s first consolidated radio tower combined with modern lifestyle spaces, observation decks, a tower hotel, and the most famous reflection photo spot in Nagoya.”

Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER (Nagoya TV Tower) stands 180 meters tall as a defining landmark of Nagoya and a symbol of the city’s post-war recovery. Construction began in September 1953 and was completed in June 1954, taking nearly one year to finish. Designed by renowned architect Tachū Naitō, the tower predates Tokyo Tower and is recognized for its historical and structural significance.

In 2022, the tower became the first tower in Japan designated as a National Important Cultural Property, highlighting its architectural value. Today, the area directly beneath the tower has been transformed into Rayard Hisaya-odori Park, a stylish open-air urban park featuring boutique shops, trendy cafés, and green lawns, making the tower’s base a lively shopping and dining destination.

From the ticket counter on the 3rd floor, visitors can take a glass elevator to the Sky Deck at 90 meters, an indoor observation level offering 360-degree views of Nagoya and its surrounding areas. Above it, the Sky Balcony at 100 meters provides an open-air experience where visitors can feel the wind and enjoy unobstructed city views. At night, the tower glows with seasonal LED illuminations, earning its nickname as the “Thunder Tower.”

The tower is also a pop-culture icon, famously appearing in classic Godzilla films, and now functions as a modern “lifestyle tower” with digital art displays and The Tower Hotel Nagoya, a unique boutique hotel built directly into the tower’s steel structure.

Floor-by-Floor Highlights

Ground Level & Base Area – Rayard Hisaya-odori Park
Surrounding the tower’s base, Rayard Hisaya-odori Park is a modern urban redevelopment that blends greenery with lifestyle shopping. Visitors will find boutique stores, popular cafés, and open lawns, making it an ideal place to relax, dine, or stroll before and after ascending the tower.

3rd Floor – Ticket Counter & Elevator Access
The 3rd floor serves as the main access point for visitors. Tickets for the observation decks are purchased here, and a glass elevator provides a scenic ride upward, offering views of the tower’s iconic steel framework during the ascent.

90m Level – Sky Deck (Indoor Observation Deck)
The Sky Deck is an enclosed observation floor with panoramic windows allowing 360-degree views across Nagoya. The space often hosts projection mapping, digital art, and seasonal exhibitions, creating a comfortable and immersive viewing experience in all weather conditions.

100m Level – Sky Balcony (Open-Air Observation Deck)
Above the Sky Deck, the Sky Balcony offers a fully open-air experience. Visitors can feel the breeze and enjoy unobstructed views of the city skyline and distant mountains such as Mount Ontake on clear days. This level provides the most dramatic sense of height_ and atmosphere.

4th & 5th Floors – The Tower Hotel Nagoya
Occupying the 4th and 5th floors, The Tower Hotel Nagoya offers a rare opportunity to stay inside a historic broadcast tower. The original steel structure extends directly into some guest rooms, blending architectural heritage with contemporary luxury for a truly unique stay.

Night Illumination
After sunset, the tower is illuminated by thousands of LEDs, with colors and patterns changing according to seasons, festivals, and special events. This nightly transformation enhances the tower’s nickname, the “Thunder Tower,” and makes it a striking nighttime landmark in central Nagoya.
