“The Historic Riverside Community along the Chanthaburi River”
Chanthaburi Old Town is widely known for its beaches and fruit orchards. In reality, Chanthaburi is an ancient city with old communities and numerous historical attractions. It was once the place where King Taksin the Great gathered his forces to restore the Ayutthaya Kingdom.
In this review, we introduce you to the Chanthaboon Riverside Community, an ancient settlement over 300 years old, located in Chanthaburi city along the Chanthaboon River. Here, you will find various styles of old houses, including traditional Thai riverside homes and European architecture mixed with Chinese influences. The community is also home to a 200-year-old Christian church, the Chanthaburi Catholic Church or the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, which is an over 100-year-old structure in the Chanthaboon Riverside Community and is the most perfectly preserved.
Walking through the community offers a delightful experience, with local coffee shops and restaurants operating out of the old houses. In the evening, the atmosphere becomes even more warm and romantic, perfect for walking, photography, and soaking in the riverside lifestyle. The community has been well-preserved, allowing visitors to experience a lively, nostalgic atmosphere. During important local festivals, cultural activities and bustling temple fairs may be organized.
We invite you to visit Chanthaburi Old Town and experience the charm of time at the Chanthaboon Riverside Community, where history, architecture, and traditional ways of life continue beautifully.
