“Pay homage to the Three Kruba statues, see the preserved body of Kruba Apichai Khao Pi, and hike to the hilltop to visit the Silver and Golden Pagodas while enjoying one of the most stunning sunrise sea-of-mist views in Li.”

The Three Kruba Monument & Wat Phra Bat Pha Nam is one of the most important spiritual landmarks in Li District. The monument stands prominently at the foot of Pha Nam Hill to honor three highly revered Lanna monks who greatly contributed to Buddhism and local communities: Kruba Srivichai, the famous Saint of Lanna; Kruba Apichai Khao Pi, his devoted disciple known for strict discipline and social contributions; and Kruba Chaiyawongsa Phatthana (Kruba Wong), the successor who continued their teachings and developed local villages.

Inside the temple, visitors can see the well-preserved body of Kruba Apichai Khao Pi, which has remained remarkably intact for decades after his passing. Enshrined in a glass coffin, it is considered a sacred and miraculous sight that attracts devotees from across northern Thailand.

Another highlight is the hilltop of Pha Nam, where the “Golden Pagoda” and “Silver Pagoda” stand on separate peaks connected by a scenic bridge resembling a pathway to heaven. From here, visitors can enjoy panoramic views over Li District and, during the cool season, witness a thick and beautiful sea of mist—especially magical at sunrise.

This destination beautifully combines spiritual devotion, Lanna religious history, and stunning natural scenery in one place.

How to Get There
  • By car: From Li town center, drive along Highway 106 (Li–Thoen route) for about 5 km. The temple will be on the left side. A paved road leads up the hill (steep in some sections; use low gear).
