“Admire the classic vintage steel structure constructed from recycled parts of an old tin mining dredger, reflecting the rich mining heritage of Takua Pa.”

Boon Soong Iron Bridge, locally known as “Khok Khanun Iron Bridge,” is a historic landmark that vividly reflects the prosperity of Takua Pa during the era when tin mining played a major role in the local economy.

The bridge was built in 1968 by the Boon Soong family, a prominent family involved in the tin mining industry in the region. What makes this bridge unique is that it was not constructed from newly manufactured steel. Instead, its structure was creatively assembled using steel components from a decommissioned tin dredger owned by Juti Boon Soong Co., Ltd. The materials were repurposed to create a bridge that allowed residents from both sides of the Takua Pa River to travel and connect more easily.

The bridge stretches approximately 200 meters in length, with a wooden plank surface that produces a distinctive echoing sound whenever pedestrians or motorcycles cross it. The dark steel framework forms an intricate lattice pattern along the bridge, giving it a strong industrial character while also showcasing the beauty of aged metal and historical craftsmanship.

From a distance, the bridge extends gracefully across the river, surrounded by open grass fields and rows of trees along the riverbanks. This peaceful rural landscape creates a calm and scenic atmosphere typical of southern Thailand’s countryside.

Today, Boon Soong Iron Bridge has become one of the most popular photography spots in Takua Pa. Early mornings often feature a light mist drifting above the river, while the late afternoon sun casts warm golden light onto the bridge’s steel structure, creating a particularly photogenic setting.

Visitors can stroll along the bridge, enjoy the river views, and observe local life along the banks. It is common to see villagers casting fishing nets in the river or walking livestock along the shore. This blend of rustic scenery and historical character gives the bridge a unique charm that represents both practical community use and the preservation of local heritage.
