Koh Yuak is a small islet located west of Koh Chang, directly across from Kai Bae and Klong Prao beaches. Despite being uninhabited and having no major facilities, Koh Yuak is highly regarded as one of the best snorkeling spots near the Koh Chang shore. Characterized by rocky outcrops and small white sand patches, the surrounding waters are exceptionally clear and shallow, making it a favorite for families and beginners who want to enjoy the underwater beauty with ease.

The essence of Koh Yuak lies in its encircling shallow coral reefs, which remain healthy and host a wide variety of marine life. Visitors can encounter staghorn corals, brain corals, and sea anemones that serve as homes for clownfish (Nemo), as well as schools of sergeant major fish and angelfish. A key advantage is the relatively calm currents, as the main island of Koh Chang shields the area from certain monsoon winds, allowing for a safe and relaxing snorkeling experience throughout the day.

The visitor experience is highlighted by kayaking adventures. Travelers often rent kayaks from Kai Bae Beach and paddle to Koh Yuak, a journey taking approximately 30-45 minutes. This route offers one of Koh Chang’s most scenic perspectives, providing panoramic views of the coastline and the island’s majestic mountain ranges in the background. Upon arrival, you’ll experience the tranquility of a charming deserted island, perfect for relaxing, picnicking on the shore, and escaping the busier main beaches.

For photographers and bloggers, the northern rocky area of Koh Yuak offers exceptionally clear water and striking sky-and-sea contrasts. For couples, paddling here together is a romantic and adventurous experience, while explorers often use Koh Yuak as a stopover before continuing to nearby islets like Koh Man Nok or Koh Man Nai to complete their island-hopping adventure.

• By Kayak: The most popular way. Rent a kayak from resorts or rental shops at Kai Bae Beach; the paddle takes about 30–45 minutes depending on wind and stamina.

• Local Long-tail Boat: Charter a boat from locals at Kai Bae or Bang Bao for a private snorkeling trip to Koh Yuak and surrounding islets.

• Speedboat: Available through tour companies, often included in half-day or full-day snorkeling programs.

• Best Visiting Season: From November to May, when the sea is calmest and the water is clearest ideal for snorkeling and safe kayaking.

• Footwear and Equipment: Water shoes are recommended due to sharp coral fragments and rocks underwater. Also, bring a waterproof bag for your electronics while paddling.

• Photography: Morning to noon light is best for underwater and drone shots, clearly highlighting the coral reefs around the island.

• Food and Hydration: There are no shops on the island. Kayakers should bring enough water and snacks, and strictly carry all trash back to the mainland.
