“Enjoy breathtaking views of endless emerald-green forests from above, breathe in fresh mountain air, and witness morning mist drifting along the mountain ridges.”
Budo Mountain Viewpoint, located within the forest area connected to Pattani Province, is part of a significant ecological landscape in southern Thailand. The area belongs to the Sankalakhiri mountain range, a vast chain of mountains that stretches across the southern region and serves as an important watershed for nearby communities.
From the viewpoint, visitors can admire layers of overlapping mountain ridges covered in dense tropical rainforest, creating a landscape that resembles waves of deep emerald green stretching to the horizon. During the early morning, especially when humidity levels are high, a thin sea of mist can often be seen floating above the treetops, creating a peaceful and almost mystical atmosphere.
Beyond its scenic beauty, the Budo mountain forest is also known as a living natural museum. The forest is famous for the unique plant known locally as “Golden Leaf” (Yan Da O), a large climbing vine whose leaves reflect a golden color when sunlight shines on them. The forest is also home to many rare wildlife species, particularly hornbills, which are considered an important indicator of a healthy rainforest ecosystem.
Because of this rich biodiversity, the viewpoint has become a popular destination for nature photographers and bird watchers who travel here to observe and document the unique wildlife and forest environment.
Reaching the viewpoint involves nature trekking along certain sections of the trail, allowing visitors to experience the rainforest environment up close. Along the way, travelers can enjoy the sounds of flowing streams, forest wildlife, and the refreshing coolness of the tropical forest. From the viewpoint itself, looking down toward the lowlands reveals villages and agricultural landscapes, highlighting the role of the Budo mountains as an essential watershed that supports local communities in Pattani and surrounding provinces.
