“A majestic golden stupa by the Bang Pakong River, marking King Taksin's historic victory. This stunning landmark offers breathtaking views and spiritual significance.”

King Taksin the Great Memorial Stupa is a significant historical site in Chachoengsao Province. Located at the mouth of the Cho Lo River, a point where the Tha Lat Canal connects to the Bang Pakong River in Bang Khla District, this site is connected to important events during the late Ayutthaya period. At that time, King Taksin the Great, then known as Phraya Wachiraprakarn, led his troops to break through the Burmese siege of Ayutthaya before its second fall in 1767 (B.E. 2310). He did this to regroup and regain Thailand's independence. The Cho Lo River mouth is therefore considered a crucial resting place and strategic location along his march to the eastern region.

According to local legends and oral tradition, King Taksin the Great is believed to have defeated the superior Burmese forces in this area through his military acumen and swift movement. Following this victory, it is believed he ordered the construction of the stupa as a memorial and a blessing for his army. Subsequently, the area along the Bang Pakong River has experienced continuous erosion. The original stupa collapsed around 1948. Afterward, local villagers and authorities collaborated to construct a new stupa near the original site to preserve the historical memory and serve as a place of worship for the public.

The most striking feature of the memorial is the gleaming golden stupa, prominently situated on the banks of the Bang Pakong River, clearly visible from afar. The stupa is designed in an elegant, modern Thai style, reflecting the faith the people have in King Taksin the Great. The surrounding area has been improved into a resting place and a riverside viewpoint. Tourists can enjoy beautiful views of the Bang Pakong River and Koh Lat on the opposite bank, especially during the morning and evening when the sunlight reflects off the golden stupa, creating a stunning and magnificent sight.

This memorial also holds significant cultural and spiritual importance for the people of Bang Khla District, as it symbolizes the courage, sacrifice, and leadership of King Taksin the Great. Every year, people visit to pay homage for good fortune and to learn about the history of Thailand's struggle for independence. In addition, there are several other important sites related to King Taksin the Great in the vicinity, such as Wat Pak Nam Cho Lo, Wat Chaeng, and Wat Pho Bang Khla. This has made Bang Khla area one of the important historical tourism routes in Chachoengsao Province.

Today, the King Taksin Memorial Stupa is not just a historical site, but also a tranquil riverside retreat, ideal for those who want to experience the atmosphere of the Bang Pakong River community. Tourists can stroll around, take photos, and pay respects and make wishes throughout the day. It is popular to visit this site along with Wat Pak Nam Cho Lo, which is located nearby, allowing visitors to experience history, art, and local lifestyle all in one trip.
