“The striking red Chureito Pagoda set against blooming cherry blossoms with Mount Fuji as a breathtaking backdrop, making it one of Japan’s most famous photo spots.”
Arakurayama Sengen Park is located on the slopes of Mount Arakura in Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture, covering about 4.3 hectares. Its centerpiece is the vibrant red five-story Chureito Pagoda, built as a peace memorial honoring those who died in wars.
Surrounding the pagoda are approximately 650 cherry blossom trees that burst into spectacular bloom from early to mid-April, making the park one of the most beautiful sakura viewing spots in Japan. Visitors experience a harmonious blend of natural beauty and traditional Japanese culture, all framed by the majestic Mount Fuji in the background.
In addition to the pagoda and cherry blossoms, the park features the Niikura Fuji Sengen Shrine, a historic and sacred site located at the summit. Visitors can climb 398 steps passing through a vivid red torii gate to reach the shrine and enjoy panoramic views.
A prime photo opportunity is the viewpoint capturing the pagoda, cherry blossoms, and Mount Fuji all in one frame, especially during the soft light of early morning or late afternoon. There are also walking trails connecting to Mount Niikura for those who enjoy hiking and nature.
