Liberty Tree
Unveiled in 1998 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the United Irishmen's 1798 battle of Carlow Town in which over six hundred rebels were said to have been killed. The battle took place in the vicinity of the Liberty Tree.
This sculpture was made by artist John Behan and was commissioned by Carlow Local Authorities. Those killed are buried in the Croppies Graves.
