“A historically important railway station in the Isan region, located in a prime central city area. The Night Train Market and UD Town modern shopping complex are adjacent, making it a central hub for both travel and lifestyle.”

Udon Thani Railway Station has a long history and serves as a key gateway for the province.

Construction first began in 1916 (B.E. 2459), and the station officially opened on June 24, 1941 (B.E. 2484). It is one of the main stations on the Northeastern Line, connecting Udon Thani with Bangkok, Nong Khai, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, and other provinces, and linking to Laos. This makes it an important hub for travelers both domestically and internationally.

The station is located in central Udon Thani on Prachak Silpakom Road, near UD Town and Central Plaza Udon Thani. It has 3 platforms and 7 railway tracks.

The station building has been developed and renovated over several eras. The new station building was generously funded by Luang Ta Maha Bua, combining modern convenience with historical architecture.

The station is bustling throughout the day, with ticket offices, passenger service counters, small shops, and waiting areas. It is convenient for travelers heading to Bangkok, Khon Kaen, Nong Khai, or planning to continue to Laos via the Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge No. 1 in Nong Khai.

Train services include regular trains, express trains, and sleeper trains, including CNR trains, catering to both Thai passengers and international tourists.

The station’s location at the end of Prachak Silpakom Road, near UD Town and Preecha Night Market, allows passengers to shop, eat, and explore the market conveniently upon arrival.
