“Crystal-clear emerald waters contrast with black volcanic rocks and white sand, creating one of Trat’s most vibrant beach photography spots with stunning ocean color gradients.”

Koh Kham is a small private island located just about 1 kilometer from Koh Mak in Trat Province. It has earned the nickname “Emerald of the Trat Sea” thanks to its exceptionally clear waters with striking emerald-green tones that shimmer under sunlight, allowing visitors to see the sandy seabed with remarkable clarity. The island offers a peaceful, uncrowded atmosphere due to controlled visitor numbers, preserving its natural charm.

One of its most distinctive features is the presence of large black volcanic rock formations scattered along the shoreline. These rocks create a dramatic contrast against the fine white sandy beach, forming visually stunning coastal scenery. Their unique shapes and natural arrangement add depth and character, making them ideal foreground elements for beach photography.

The main beach is a gently curved bay with shallow, calm waters, perfect for swimming and relaxing. During low tide, a sandbar emerges, extending into the sea and creating a small “sea split” effect. This allows visitors to walk further out and capture wide-angle views of the island, where multiple shades of ocean color—from light emerald green to deep blue—can be seen in a single frame.

Beneath the surface, the surrounding waters host relatively healthy shallow coral reefs. Snorkelers can easily spot staghorn corals, brain corals, and schools of small tropical fish not far from the shore. The clear visibility makes it suitable for beginners and casual explorers looking to experience marine life up close.

In terms of environment, Koh Kham remains largely undeveloped. Facilities are minimal, consisting mainly of small resting areas and a simple drink service point. There are no large resorts or dense constructions on the island. Some areas may show remnants of older or unused structures, adding a raw and untouched island character that enhances its peaceful and natural ambiance.

Overall, Koh Kham is ideal for a relaxing day trip, offering scenic beach walks, swimming, snorkeling, and capturing the vivid colors of the sea in a tranquil, well-preserved setting.
