“A national park renowned for its extensive mangrove forests, the Thailand–Myanmar border river, Punyaban Waterfall, and Had Yai Hot Spring.”

Lamnam Kraburi National Park (Lamnam Kraburi National Park) covers an area of approximately 160 square kilometers across Kraburi District, La-un District, and Mueang Ranong District in Ranong Province. The park was established to conserve the important natural resources of the Kraburi River basin, which forms a natural border between Thailand and Myanmar.

Most of the park consists of mangrove forests, tropical rainforests, river islands, and sections of the Andaman Sea coastline that remain highly intact. It is considered one of Thailand’s most important mangrove ecosystems and serves as a crucial watershed area as well as a natural nursery ground for aquatic species with significant ecological value.

Within the park are numerous natural attractions, especially Punyaban Waterfall, a medium-sized waterfall with year-round water flow. Located directly beside Phetkasem Road, it is easily accessible and ideal for relaxation and nature exploration.

The area surrounding the waterfall is covered by lush tropical rainforest rich in biodiversity, featuring tropical trees, ferns, mosses, and various native plant species. It also provides habitat for small wildlife and numerous bird species. Nature study trails allow visitors to learn about the forest ecosystem at close range.

Another major attraction is Had Yai Hot Spring, a natural hot spring with an average temperature of approximately 49 degrees Celsius. The mineral-rich water is believed to help relax muscles and stimulate blood circulation.

Visitors can choose between communal bathing pools and private bathing rooms, all surrounded by a peaceful natural environment, making it an excellent place to unwind after exploring the park.

Laem Set Kuat is another notable area known for its mangrove ecosystem and is regarded as one of Ranong Province’s important natural resources. Visitors can take boat trips through the mangrove forests, learn about the lifestyle of coastal communities, and observe wildlife living within the area.

This mangrove forest serves as an important nursery ground for marine life along the Andaman coast and is also home to numerous waterbirds and shorebirds, particularly during the migratory season when birds arrive from various regions around the world.

At the park headquarters, Khao Hin Chang Viewpoint offers panoramic views of the Kraburi River, its scattered islands, and the mountain ranges of Myanmar in the distance.

This viewpoint is especially popular during the morning and evening, as visitors can enjoy spectacular sunrises and sunsets overlooking the Thailand–Myanmar border river landscape.

In terms of biodiversity, Lamnam Kraburi National Park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including long-tailed macaques, spectacled langurs, smooth-coated otters, Brahminy kites, kingfishers, and numerous species of shorebirds, as well as economically important aquatic species that play key roles in the coastal ecosystem.

Furthermore, the park plays a vital role in maintaining the ecological balance of the Andaman coastline by helping prevent coastal erosion, reducing the impact of waves and storms, and acting as a natural carbon storage area of environmental significance.

The best time to visit is during November to April, when rainfall is relatively low and the weather is clear, making it ideal for mangrove boat tours, sightseeing along the “Two Nations River,” and nature walks.

During the rainy season from May to October, Punyaban Waterfall carries a greater volume of water, while the forests become exceptionally lush and green, offering a different but equally beautiful natural atmosphere.

With its remarkable combination of extensive mangrove forests, the Thailand–Myanmar border river, natural waterfalls, hot springs, and rich biodiversity, Lamnam Kraburi National Park is one of the most important ecotourism destinations in Ranong Province. It is an ideal destination for travelers seeking an authentic nature experience while learning about the value of one of Thailand’s most well-preserved coastal ecosystems.
