The Ordination Hall Walls

The walls of this Ordination Hall are remarkably thick, specifically designed to bear the weight of a massive wooden roof structure. The primary materials employed are brick and stucco, a construction technique highly favored during the reign of King Narai the Great. Pointed-arch windows are strategically placed at intervals along the walls to optimize ventilation and enhance natural lighting within the building. Originally, the exterior wall surfaces were plastered and adorned with stucco motifs, but much of this ornamentation has weathered away, revealing the orange brickwork beneath. The symmetrical design of the wall openings reflects the integration of European architectural principles into Thai religious structures.
