“Experience a treehouse cafe built around a giant banyan tree. Walk across a suspension bridge over the valley, enjoy 360-degree natural views, along with Zipline activities and accommodation amidst the forest.”

The Giant Chiang Mai (The Giant Chiangmai) is one of the most famous natural tourism landmarks in Mae On District and is considered one of the first treehouse cafes in Chiang Mai Province to gain popularity among both Thai and international tourists. With a design concept that harmonizes with nature, using a wooden structure built around a large, centuries-old banyan tree while preserving the original state of the tree as much as possible, this cafe is lauded as an example of eco-tourism that perfectly blends architecture with the forest.

A key highlight is the wooden suspension bridge that stretches across the valley to the cafe, gently swaying with the wind and footsteps, adding excitement and fun for visitors. Before entering the seating area that extends beyond the treetops, one can enjoy nearly 360-degree views of mountains, lush rainforests, and green valleys, while breathing in cool, fresh air all year round, especially during the rainy and cold seasons when there is a chance to see mist floating through the treetops, creating an atmosphere as if in a high mountain forest.

The cafe offers a variety of beverages, including fresh coffee, tea, cocoa, fruit drinks, homemade bakery items, as well as Thai and international food, perfect for relaxing amidst nature. There are also several seating zones, including the wooden balcony, tables by the cliff edge, and corners under the shade of the giant banyan tree, which have become popular photo spots for tourists.

For outdoor activity enthusiasts, The Giant also offers a Zipline, or a short zip-lining activity across the valley, providing an opportunity to experience the forest canopy from a unique perspective, adding to the excitement of the visit. Additionally, there are Eco-lodge style accommodations designed to blend with nature, ideal for those seeking tranquility, waking up to the sound of birds and the fresh air of the headwater forest.

Another charm of The Giant is its location near Ban Pok Ban Mae Lai and Mae Kampong Village allowing tourists to plan a one-day trip or stay overnight and conveniently continue their travels. This includes Wat Kantha Pruksa Mae Kampong Waterfall Royal Project Development Center Teen Tok or other cafes and homestays in the community, making it one of the popular must-visit destinations on the Mae On travel route.

For photography, The Giant offers many beautiful spots, whether it's the suspension bridge area, the front of the giant banyan tree, the view balcony, and the view from below revealing the wooden structure of the cafe nestled among the treetops. The best time for photography is early morning and late afternoon, when natural light filters through the canopy, creating beautiful shadows and rays of light, suitable for both nature and portrait photography.

With its unique treehouse cafe built in harmony with the forest, combined with a tranquil atmosphere, cool weather, and beautiful natural views, The Giant Chiang Mai is one of the most talked-about cafes in Chiang Mai Province and remains a key destination for those wishing to experience nature up close in Mae On District.
