“Experience the impressive Tam Nang Waterfall, cascading over a 60-meter cliff surrounded by cool mist and thousands of fish, and explore adventurous rainforest hiking trails.”
Sri Phang Nga National Park is one of the most pristine and ecologically rich forests in Phang Nga Province. Covering an area of more than 153,800 rai, the park lies along the Nom Sao mountain range, forming a natural boundary between Khura Buri and Takua Pa districts. This forest plays an important role as a natural watershed, feeding several streams and rivers that support nearby communities.
The park is characterized by dense tropical rainforest, where high humidity throughout the year allows a wide variety of plant species to flourish. Large hardwood trees such as Yang and Takian grow alongside ferns, mosses, and climbing vines that cover much of the forest floor and canopy, creating a lush and vibrant ecosystem.
One of the park’s main attractions is its collection of beautiful waterfalls, each with unique features and natural surroundings.
Tam Nang Waterfall is the most famous and impressive waterfall in the park. With a height_ of around 60 meters, the water cascades dramatically down a large rock cliff into a clear pool below. The surrounding forest provides cool shade, and visitors can often see large schools of freshwater fish swimming in the pool. The waterfall can be reached by driving approximately 4.5 kilometers from the park headquarters, followed by a short 500-meter walk.
For visitors seeking a more adventurous experience, Ton Toey Waterfall offers an exciting rainforest trek. The waterfall stands about 45 meters high and requires a round-trip hike of around three hours from the park headquarters. Along the trail, visitors will pass through lush rainforest filled with towering trees and winding vines. On the way, there is also Ton Ton Toey Noi Waterfall, a smaller 10-meter cascade that serves as a scenic rest stop before reaching the main waterfall.
Another easily accessible attraction is Ton Sai Waterfall, located not far from the park entrance. A short 15-minute walk leads to this 20-meter waterfall, surrounded by large banyan trees whose spreading branches and aerial roots create a peaceful and mystical atmosphere.
Because the park is connected to larger forest areas near Cheow Lan Reservoir, Sri Phang Nga National Park is home to a wide variety of rare wildlife. Animals such as Malayan tapirs, serows, barking deer, and wild cats inhabit the forest. The park is also a paradise for birdwatchers, with several species of hornbills, woodpeckers, and other forest birds frequently spotted. Rare reptiles and amphibians can also be found here, indicating the exceptional health of the ecosystem.
Visiting Sri Phang Nga National Park offers more than a typical sightseeing experience—it provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in the untouched beauty of Thailand’s tropical rainforest and witness a thriving natural ecosystem protected for future generations.
