“Pure sulfur-free mineral water at 65°C, offering therapeutic soaking for muscle relief amidst lush natural surroundings in the heart of Ranong.”
Rakswarin Hot Springs is the most famous natural hot spring in Ranong Province, Thailand. Historical records trace its use back to 1890 (B.E. 2433) during the reign of King Rama V, when he visited southern Thailand and recognized the springs as a remarkable natural mineral source.
Later, in 1967 (B.E. 2510), Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra (the Princess Mother) visited Ranong and graciously bestowed the name “Rakswarin,” meaning “healing water” or “water for therapeutic purposes.”
Geological Uniqueness (Key Selling Point)
What makes Rakswarin Hot Springs stand out nationally and globally is its rare characteristic:
Completely sulfur-free mineral water
Unlike most hot springs, the water here has no sulfur smell at all, is crystal clear, and is safe for drinking at designated points. It contains naturally balanced minerals beneficial to human health.
The Three Main Source Pools
At the core of the site are three large concrete pools, which are the original sources of the mineral water. Each maintains a constant temperature of around 65°C:
- Father Pool – The largest and hottest, considered the main source
- Mother Pool – Slightly smaller, located nearby
- Child Pool – The smallest of the three
Note: These pools are for observation only. Bathing is not allowed due to the high temperature.
Activity & Relaxation Zones
Foot Soaking Area (Free Zone)
A mineral stream flows from the main pools into a public foot-soaking area, where the temperature is reduced to around 40–42°C. Visitors can relax, relieve fatigue, and improve blood circulation free of charge.
Thermal Pavilion & Wellness Area
A highlight is the “heated ground pavilion,” where mineral water flows beneath the surface, warming the floor. Visitors often lie down here for a traditional Thai-style heat therapy, helping relieve back pain and muscle tension.
Mineral Bath Facilities (Private/Shared Pools)
For a full-body experience, there are paid bathing facilities with separate sections for men and women, including changing rooms and showers.
Suspension Bridge over Had Som Paen Canal
A scenic landmark connecting the hot spring area to the forest park across the canal. It’s ideal for walking, photography, and enjoying the lush natural surroundings.
