“Half-timbered building with Lanna and Burmese art.”
Sri Chum Temple is the largest temple in Burma. There are 31 temples in Thailand built in 1890 by the Burmese monk named Uyo, who followed the British into the forest in Thailand. When they have a better position, they need to make merit by building Wat Si Chum in Suan Dok District.
The highlight of this temple is the half-timbered building with Lanna and Burmese art. The carved wooden roof is a very beautiful pattern.
Unfortunately, there was a fire in the temple. On the morning of January 16, 1992 only carved wood at the archway to the temple. Patterns of fruity florets.
Today, the temple has been restored and there are also pieces of jewelery on display at the back of the sanctuary. Wat Si Chum was registered as a historic site in 1981.
Getting there: Wat Si Chum is located at Sri Chum Maeo Road, Sri Chum District, Phaholyothin Road. Turn left at the intersection to Sri Chum to about 100 meters to find the temple on the right.
