Luang Pho Kasem Khemako Meditation Center (Trilak Cemetery) is one of the most respected religious sites in Lampang. This place served as the residence and meditation center of Luang Pho Kasem Khemako, a highly revered Vipassana meditation monk known for his strict discipline, humility, and simple lifestyle. Today, it has become a spiritual destination where devotees from across Thailand come to pay their respects and reflect on his teachings.

Luang Pho Kasem Khemako:

Luang Pho Kasem was a renowned monk in the Vipassana meditation tradition who practiced strict ascetic discipline. He passed away on January 15, 1996, yet what amazes many visitors is that his body has remained incorrupt and has not decomposed even after decades. This phenomenon has strengthened the faith of countless Buddhists who visit to pay their respects.

Architecture and Sacred Pavilion:

Within the meditation center stands an elegant Thai-style pavilion built in a modern Thai architectural style. Inside the pavilion is a life-sized wax statue of Luang Pho Kasem seated in meditation, allowing visitors to pay homage closely. Nearby, the actual body of Luang Pho Kasem is preserved in a glass coffin, which remains in remarkable condition.

Notable Attractions within the Grounds:

At the entrance to the meditation center stands a large standing statue of Luang Pho Kasem, clearly visible and serving as a prominent landmark welcoming visitors. The area also preserves the small wooden kuti (monk’s hut) where Luang Pho Kasem once lived. Its simplicity reflects his humble lifestyle and dedication to meditation. Other structures within the grounds include a bell tower and small pagodas, adding to the peaceful spiritual environment.

Trilak Cemetery is not only a religious site but also a center for reflection and meditation. The name “Trilak” refers to the Buddhist concept of the Three Characteristics of Existence – impermanence, suffering, and non-self. By Car:

• From Lampang city center, cross Ratsadaphisek Bridge toward the Wiang Nuea area. Continue along Pratu Ma Road (the road leading to Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao). The Trilak Cemetery will appear on the left-hand side, with a spacious parking area available.

Horse Carriage / Local Songthaew:

• Visitors can take Lampang’s famous horse carriage city tour or a yellow local songthaew and ask the driver to stop at “Trilak Cemetery,” a well-known landmark.
