“A renowned temperate agricultural research station featuring a wide variety of fruit trees, vegetables, and flowers, set amid beautiful mountainous landscapes with cool year-round weather, perfect for eco-tourism and agricultural education.”

The Royal Agricultural Station Angkhang was established as the first research station under the Royal Project, following the initiative of His Majesty the King. His Majesty intended for the hill tribes living in various northern mountains to stop growing opium and practicing shifting cultivation, which had been major causes of forest destruction and watershed degradation.

Originally a bald mountain, Angkhang was transformed into a fertile and lush mountain through research and development efforts. The station cultivates more than 12 types of temperate fruit trees—including persimmons, plums, peaches, kiwifruit, and pears—over 60 types of temperate vegetables such as cabbage, lettuce, and various herbs, and over 20 types of temperate flowers including roses, freesias, proteas, and ornamental bulbs.

The station promotes sustainable agricultural practices and reforestation by planting native trees to restore the ecological balance. The cool, fresh climate and picturesque surroundings make it a popular destination for visitors interested in nature, photography, and learning about highland agriculture.

Visitors can explore well-organized demonstration plots, botanical gardens, and flower displays, gaining insight into innovative farming techniques that benefit both the environment and local communities. Locally grown produce and flower products are highly regarded and marketed nationwide, contributing to the economy and sustainable livelihoods of hill tribe farmers.
