“A majestic 70-meter waterfall, the tallest in Chiang Rai, cascading down a steep cliff into a serene pool. Surrounded by lush rainforest, perfect for nature exploration.”

Khun Korn Waterfall is one of the most famous natural attractions in Chiang Rai province and is considered one of the tallest waterfalls in Northern Thailand, standing approximately 70 meters high. Water cascades beautifully from a large rock cliff into a pool below, surrounded by a lush and abundant rainforest. This area is under the care of Khun Korn Waterfall National Park, an important nature conservation area in Chiang Rai and a highly pristine ecosystem. Visitors will experience a tranquil forest atmosphere, cool air, and the sounds of nature along the way – the sound of flowing water, birdsong, and wind rustling through large trees.

The hiking trail to the waterfall is another highlight. From the park office, visitors must hike approximately 1.4 kilometers to the waterfall. The trail is mostly dirt paths interspersed with wooden bridges crossing small streams. Along the way, the landscape is lined with rainforest vegetation such as ferns, mosses, large trees, and various native plants, creating a shady and pleasant environment throughout the day. Even during the day, it feels noticeably cooler than city areas. Along the way, visitors can spot butterflies, rare forest insects, and many local bird species, especially during the rainy season when the surrounding nature is at its most lush.

Upon reaching the waterfall... Visitors will witness a massive cascade of water plunging down from a steep cliff, creating a mist that permeates the entire area. This is especially true during the rainy season and the late rainy season/early dry season when the water volume is high, making the waterfall particularly beautiful and powerful. The pool at the bottom features large, naturally arranged rocks, creating a striking landscape perfect for nature photography. However, during the rainy season, the current can be quite strong, so visitors should exercise caution when swimming or walking near wet, slippery rocks. The area around the waterfall remains highly natural, with no large buildings or shops, making it ideal for those seeking true relaxation amidst nature.

Khun Korn Waterfall is also a popular destination for those who enjoy short hikes and nature exploration, as the trail is not too difficult, suitable for general tourists, groups of friends, and families with older children. Some sections of the trail are slightly steep and may be slippery during rainy periods, so appropriate hiking shoes are recommended. Furthermore, the area's air is generally humid year-round, resulting in lush and abundant forest surrounding the waterfall. Many choose to visit in the morning to experience the fresh air and natural light filtering through the trees, enhancing the beauty of photographs.

Beyond its natural beauty, Khun Korn Waterfall clearly reflects the importance of natural resource conservation in Chiang Rai province. The forest area around the waterfall serves as a water source and habitat for many species of wildlife. The management of the forest park focuses on ecotourism, allowing tourists to access nature without excessively impacting the ecosystem. With its pristine forest, beautiful waterfalls, and tranquil atmosphere, Khun Korn Waterfall has become one of the must-see natural attractions when visiting Chiang Rai.
