เส้นทางนี้ ทางหลวงหมายเลข 118 หากไม่แวะที่ใดเลย ให้เวลา ประมาณ 3 ชม.เศษ น่าจะเป็นเส้นทางที่สั้นที่สุด จากเชียงใหม่-เชียงราย ผ่านอำเภอสำคัญๆ อยาง อ.ดอยสะเก็ด อ.เวียงป่าเป้า(เชียงราย) อ.แม่ลา อ.แม่สรวย สถานที่ท่องเที่ยวไหนไม่ได้อยู่ริมทางหรือใช้เวลาระยะทางขับรถไกลเกินกว่า 10 กม. จะผ่านไป ไม่ขอปักหมุดไว้นะครับ ต.ย. ไม่แวะ ดอยช้าง ดอยวาวี (น่าเสียดาย) ก็ตาม เพราะเวลาไม่เอื้ออำนวยครับ มิฉะนั้นจะไม่ถึงเชียงใหม่ก่อนค่ำ

รูทนี้คงต้องออกจากตัวเมืองเชียงใหม่แต่เช้าตรู่เช่นเคย น้ำตกขุนกรณ์ อาจไม่ทันน่ะ แต่จัดเผื่อเหลือไว้ก่อน เป็นอีกทางเลือกจร้า
