“Homestay amidst terraced rice fields with 360-degree mountain views, complete with local cuisine and guest shuttle service.”
Kowit Krathom Plai Na Mae Chaem originated from the concept of "Khun Kowit," who wished to open his family's home and agricultural land as an accommodation for those truly passionate about nature and rural life. The accommodation comprises simple wooden huts designed to blend seamlessly with the environment, situated amidst the terraced rice fields and mountains of Mae Chaem District, one of Chiang Mai Province's most beautiful terraced rice-growing areas.
The charm of this place lies in its tranquility, privacy, and limited number of rooms, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in nature. Here, visitors can experience the lifestyle of the Pga K'nyau (Karen) community, who still preserve their traditional culture and rice farming methods. Particularly during the rainy season from July to October, the rice fields turn lush green across the valleys, and morning mists often linger. From late October to November, it's the season of beautiful golden rice ears, perfect for photography and sightseeing.
All accommodations are open to natural breezes and do not have air conditioning, as the area enjoys cool weather year-round. Inside the rooms, basic amenities are fully provided, along with private balconies for watching sunrise and sunset over the rice fields. The nighttime atmosphere is peaceful, ideal for relaxation and stargazing.
Another highlight is the Lanna traditional cuisine, prepared by the homestay owners with fresh, local ingredients from the community, such as local vegetables, new harvest rice, and seasonal indigenous dishes. Guests can also stroll through the rice fields, admire natural streams, photograph mountain views, or engage in friendly conversations and cultural exchange with the local community.
With its location not far fromDoi Inthanon National Park and other important attractions in Mae Chaem, such as Baan Rabiang Na Pa Bong Piang Mae Pan Waterfall, and various nature trails, Kowit Krathom Plai Na is a popular choice for those seeking relaxation amidst nature and serves as a convenient base for exploring Mae Chaem District.
