Its original name reflects the low-lying riverside geography of the area, while the later name “Khirichet,” meaning “boundary of the mountain,” refers to its proximity to the surrounding hills that frame the town. One of the temple’s most distinctive features is Phra Chedi Khirichet, a unique stupa that stands apart from typical southern Thai designs. Influenced by Burmese architecture, the chedi features a bell-shaped structure set upon a square base, adorned with delicate stucco decorations.
