Resona Koedo Terrace was originally built in 1918 as the Old Saitama Resona Bank, Kawagoe Branch, widely referred to by history enthusiasts as the “Old Eighty-Fifth Bank (Dai-Hachiju-Go Bank).”

The building was designed by Shigenori Kasahara, a prominent architect of the Taisho period. Architecturally, it features Western Renaissance influences and is especially famous for its white-tiled exterior and distinctive green dome.

In the Kurazukuri district—where most buildings are dark clay-walled storehouses—this bright white structure stands out dramatically, making it one of the most visually recognizable landmarks in Kawagoe’s Little Edo area. It is officially registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan and was carefully restored before reopening in 2024 as a multifunctional cultural space.
