“A scenic wooden pier combining a beachfront bar vibe with one of Koh Mak’s most beautiful sunset viewpoints.”
Blue Pearl Pier @ Ao Pra is a small wooden pier located in Ao Pra, one of the most peaceful and charming coastal areas of Koh Mak. The pier is directly connected to Blue Pearl Bar, a popular rustic beachfront bar and a well-known landmark among travelers seeking a relaxed island atmosphere.
The setting is simple yet highly photogenic, featuring clear blue waters, open sea views, and distant island silhouettes. In the late afternoon, the area becomes one of the island’s top sunset spots, with golden light reflecting beautifully across the sea. It is ideal for relaxing, enjoying drinks, or capturing both ground-level and aerial (drone) photography.
Although located near Ao Pra Pier, which serves as a functional transport pier, Blue Pearl Pier stands out as a lifestyle-oriented destination, offering a quieter and more scenic experience compared to typical arrival points on the island.
How to Get There
Koh Mak can be reached from mainland Trat (Laem Sok Pier), Koh Kood, or Koh Chang, with the main arrival point on the island being Ao Nid Pier.
- The most common and convenient route is from Laem Sok Pier, with ferry and speedboat services operated by Boonsiri Ferry and Koh Kood Express. Travel time is approximately 45–60 minutes.
- Boats typically depart between 10:45 AM and 4:00 PM, with main departures around 10:45, 11:30, 1:30–2:00, and 4:00 PM, depending on the operator and season. Morning to early afternoon departures are strongly recommended.
- Travelers should carefully check that their selected boat stops at Koh Mak (via Koh Mak), as some services continue directly to Koh Kood without stopping.
- It is also possible to travel from Koh Kood to Koh Mak (approximately 30 minutes by speedboat, multiple daily departures), while routes from Koh Chang are mainly available during the high season (November–April).
- Arrive at the pier at least 30–45 minutes before departure, and avoid late afternoon departures when possible, as services after 4:00 PM are limited and subject to weather conditions.
Travel Tips
- Visit between 5:00 PM and 6:30 PM for the best sunset views.
