Inside the Great Buddha Hall, several detailed scale models are on display, showcasing the evolution of the Todai-ji complex across different historical eras: the Nara, Kamakura, and Edo periods.
These models illustrate how the temple's size and layout changed over centuries due to fires and reconstructions. A highlight of these displays is the reconstruction of the massive twin seven-story pagodas, which originally stood over 100 meters tall. Although these pagodas are no longer standing today, the models provide a rare glimpse into the original scale of the temple grounds, which was once even more vast and imposing than the current structure.
