Luang Phor Phet

Luang Phor Phet is the guardian Buddha image of Phichit, enshrined as the presiding deity in the ordination hall of Wat Tha Luang (Royal Monastery). Renowned as one of Thailand's most beautiful Buddha images, it features the Maravijaya posture in the Vajrasana (diamond) position, representing the early Chiang Saen (Singha 1) artistic style cast in bronze. It is believed to have been created between 1017 and 1257 AD. Wat Tha Luang was established during the reign of King Rama III (c. 1845) on the banks of the Nan River, a site famous for hosting the prestigious National Traditional Long Boat Racing.
