Suttha Sawan Throne Hall

The Suttha Sawan Throne Hall is located in the Inner Court and was built by King Narai the Great as his strictly private primary residence. Its architecture featured a majestic Thai-style brick and plaster building, surrounded by low walls and beautiful flower gardens to suit the King's preferences. This throne hall holds immense historical significance as the place where he conducted his private affairs and where he ultimately passed away in 1688. During that era, the area was illuminated by oil lamps placed on pillars and along the surrounding moats, creating stunning reflections on the water at night. Today, only the foundations and some wall structures remain to show the layout, but the site still exudes a sense of sacredness and the tranquility of the private royal quarters.
