This reception hall was built to serve as a venue for banquets and receiving foreign diplomats, especially the French envoys during the reign of King Louis XIV. The architecture of the building is distinctly European, featuring a rectangular shape with thick brick walls and rounded arched doorways in the Renaissance style. An interesting highlight is the surrounding moat, which in the past featured fountains designed to provide beauty and cooling, following French garden trends. This building reflects the efforts of King Narai the Great to modernize the Siamese court to international standards to impress foreign visitors. Today, the remains of the walls and foundations still exist, showcasing the grand layout of the building located near the Twelve Treasuries and the ancient reservoir.
