The Phra Chao Hao Building

The Phra Chao Hao Building is a large structure built with thick bricks and plaster, featuring iconic Gothic pointed arches for its doorways and windows. It is speculated that this building served as a royal chapel to enshrine a significant Buddha image named Phra Chao Hao or was used as a meeting hall for nobles. The name "Phra Chao Hao" is thought to potentially be a corruption of a Khmer word or simply the name of the ancient Buddha statue originally kept there. The walls are exceptionally thick and still show traces of small niches used to hold lamps, which would have beautifully illuminated the building at night. Today, the building is a key highlight for tourists, as its remaining arched structures create a visually stunning, mystical, and powerful atmosphere.
