Wat Roi Phra Phutthabat Phu Manorom (Wat Roi Phra Phutthabat Phu Manorom) is located on a mountaintop within Phu Pha Thoep National Park in Mukdahan Province. The temple is one of the most important religious and tourism landmarks in Northeastern Thailand, combining spiritual significance, cultural beliefs, and breathtaking natural scenery. From the hilltop, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Mekong River, Mukdahan City, and Savannakhet in Laos.

The name “Phu Manorom” roughly translates to “Mountain of Delightfulness”, reflecting the peaceful and scenic atmosphere surrounding the temple. The area is filled with lush greenery and cool breezes throughout the day. During winter mornings, light mist occasionally floats above the Mekong River, creating a serene and mystical atmosphere.

The temple’s most iconic attraction is the magnificent “Phaya Si Mukda Maha Muni Nilpal Nakarat”, a gigantic blue Naga sculpture stretching over 122 meters long with a diameter of approximately 1.5 meters. The intricately designed scales and detailed craftsmanship make it one of the most beautiful Naga statues in Thailand. Many visitors come here to pray for good fortune, career success, financial prosperity, and good luck, while tying colorful cloths according to their birth day beliefs for spiritual blessings.

One of the most popular rituals is walking beneath the Naga through all seven passageways, which locals believe helps remove negativity and bring prosperity and good fortune. As a result, the temple attracts worshippers and tourists throughout the year, especially during religious festivals and holidays.

At the summit stands “Phra Phuttha Ming Mongkhon Muni Si Mukdahan”, a large white Buddha image in the Mara Victory posture. Visible from afar, the Buddha statue has become another symbolic landmark of Mukdahan Province. The surrounding area is also one of the best Mekong River viewpoints, especially during sunrise and sunset when golden light beautifully reflects across the Buddha statue and the river, making it perfect for photography and sightseeing.

The temple also houses a replica Buddha footprint, crafted from sandstone and covered with brass. It has long been regarded as a sacred spiritual symbol for the people of Mukdahan. Visitors can pay respect for blessings and walk along short nature trails around the temple grounds, which remain rich in natural forest surroundings.
