ตลาดจีนซากแง้ว เปิดทุกวันเสาร์ เริ่ม ประมาณ บ่าย 3 - 3 ทุ่ม ช่วงบ่าย 3 จะเริ่มตั้งร้านกันบ้างแล้ว แต่แดดยังร้อนอยู่ แอดฯ ไม่แนะนำมาชข่วงนี้ เพราะร้อน... เริ่มสัก 4-5 โมงเย็นกำลังดี เดินเท้าสัก 1 ชม เริ่มหิว แวะหาอะไรๆอร่อยทานได้กำลัง ก่อนเข้าที่พัก แถวพัทยา เพราะคนส่วนใหญ่เดินทางมาเที่ยวพัทยาและแวะมา

ตลาดจีนซากแง้ว คำว่า “ชาก” ตามพจนานุกรม แปลว่าที่ราบลุ่ม มีความอุดมสมบูรณ์ เหมาะแก่การทำการเกษตร ส่วนคำว่า “แง้ว” ได้มาจากการที่พื้นที่นี้เคยเป็นป่า มีต้นนุ่นที่หนามแหลมมากมาย ชาวบ้านเรียกว่า “งิ้วแง้ว” จึงเป็นที่มาของชื่อหมู่บ้านชากแง้ว คนจีนเรียกว่า “หลง ฉั่ง งิ่ว"

ชุมชนนี้เป็นพื้นที่ที่ชาวจีนแต้จิ๋วอพยพมาตั้งถิ่นฐานอยู่ร่วมกับคนไทยเชื้อสายจีน จากพื้นที่ปลูกมันสำปะหลังเป็นพืชหลัก ค่อยๆ เจริญเติบโตเป็นย่านการค้าที่รุ่งเรือง มีโรงงานโม่แป้ง มีแรงงานจากทั่วทุกสารทิศ กระทั่งเมื่อมีการสร้างถนนสุขุมวิทจึงเกิดความเปลี่ยนแปลงครั้งใหญ่ นั่นคือความเจริญและสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกต่าง ๆ ย้ายไปที่ตัวเมืองพัทยา แต่ด้วยความเข้มแข็งของชุมชนที่ร่วมใจสืบทอด รักษาวิถีชีวิตและอัตลักษณ์แบบชุมชนจีนดั้งเดิม ปัจจุบันจึงเปิดเป็นถนนสายวัฒนธรรมไทย-จีนโบราณ
