“Enjoy sea-of-mist views at Noen Kood Doi and Khao Chang Phueak, stay in the famous Tarzan Treehouse, visit Jok Kradin Waterfall, and explore nearby Ban E-Tong.”

Thong Pha Phum National Park covers vast fertile forest areas in Thong Pha Phum and Sangkhla Buri Districts of Kanchanaburi Province. The park is dominated by steep and complex mountain ranges, serving as the origin of several important waterways in western Thailand.

Located along the Tenasserim Mountain Range, the park forms part of a continuous forest ecosystem connected to Myanmar. It plays a vital role in wildlife conservation and watershed protection. The forest landscape includes tropical rainforest, hill evergreen forest, and mixed deciduous forest, creating habitats for a wide variety of wildlife such as gaur, elephants, barking deer, wild boars, bears, and many rare bird species.

One of the most popular activities is camping at Noen Kood Doi, a scenic mountain viewpoint known for cool weather and panoramic sunrise views. The campsite is equipped with convenient facilities for visitors who wish to experience mountain camping surrounded by misty forests.

Another must-visit attraction is Jok Kradin Waterfall, a beautiful limestone waterfall with turquoise-blue water flowing year-round. Surrounded by lush rainforest, it is considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Kanchanaburi Province.

The park is also the main access point for hikers attempting to conquer Khao Chang Phueak, one of Thailand’s most famous ridge trails. Known for its dramatic “knife-edge ridge,” the trail offers breathtaking 360-degree mountain views and spectacular seas of mist during winter. Trekking permits must be reserved in advance through the national park due to seasonal conservation regulations.

A unique highlight of the park is the famous “Tarzan House” treehouse accommodation, built among large forest trees to provide visitors with a close-to-nature experience. Guests can enjoy cool mountain air, peaceful surroundings, and morning mist drifting through the treetops directly from their balconies.

Nearby attractions such as Ban E-Tong and Pilok Mining Village are also highly popular among travelers. The former mining village is now known for its nostalgic atmosphere, cool climate, mountain cafés, and scenic viewpoints including Noen Chang Suek, where visitors can admire panoramic views along the Thai–Myanmar border.

During the rainy season from approximately June to October, the forests become lush green and waterfalls flow strongly. The cool season from November to February is considered the best time to visit due to chilly temperatures, sea-of-mist scenery, and ideal conditions for trekking, camping, and sunrise viewing.
