“Witness the miracle of a thick white sea of mist covering the mountain valleys in the morning and experience freezing temperatures all year round.”
Mon Sone Viewpoint is located on Doi Ang Khang within the Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park. It is a scenic viewpoint situated at an altitude of approximately 1,787 meters above sea level. This location features a wide terrace on a mountain ridge that offers a clear, panoramic view of the Dan Lao Mountain Range. During the winter and rainy seasons, Mon Sone Viewpoint is highly famous for its sea of mist, which is thick and vast, beautifully covering the valley below amidst the pine trees that line the area.
Mon Sone Viewpoint is important as one of the highest rest areas and campgrounds on Doi Ang Khang. In the past, this area was part of the development of Doi Ang Khang to promote eco-tourism. The geographical characteristics of Mon Sone result in cold weather throughout the year; even in summer, the temperature at night remains cool and comfortable. The surrounding area also possesses biodiversity, including rare birds and temperate plants that are well-maintained by the park.
It is a popular place for people to pray for new beginnings and a prosperous life. Seeing the first light of the sunrise amidst the sea of mist at Mon Sone represents positive energy and a good start to the day. Most tourists arrive to experience the freezing air in the early morning to wait for the golden light that slowly changes the color of the sky above the sea of clouds. The quiet and open atmosphere helps visitors feel relaxed and inspired by the greatness of nature.
Mon Sone Viewpoint is a perfect check-in spot for photographers who want to capture the Milky Way at night and the sea of mist in the morning. Since there is no light pollution, the stars can be seen very clearly. Wide-angle photography helps capture the grandeur of the sea of mist with pine trees and colorful tents in the foreground. For couples and groups of friends, sitting together to eat hot food in single-digit temperatures is a memorable camping experience that creates a great impression.
We invite everyone to experience the cold and witness the beauty of one of the widest seas of mist in Thailand here at Mon Sone Viewpoint, Doi Ang Khang.
