Gokurakumon (Grand West Gate) represents the entrance to Amida Buddha’s Western Paradise. Historically, pilgrims practiced Nissokan (sun contemplation) here, watching the sunset to visualize the Pure Land. The gate features Mani-guruma (Dharma wheels) for visitors to spin while praying for salvation. It stands as a sacred boundary where the mundane world meets divine compassion, offering a path to spiritual rebirth.
