Jizoyama and Surrounding Elements

Jizoyama is an elevated mound tucked away in the temple’s tranquil northeastern sector, bordered by the lush traditional foliage of the Gokuraku-jodo Garden. The site is defined by its vibrant splashes of vermilion red from the hundreds of bibs and caps that dress the statues, creating a sea of color against the natural earth. The area is often filled with the soft scent of burning incense and decorated with small votive offerings and fresh flowers left by visitors, blending spiritual ritual with a peaceful, shaded garden atmosphere.
