The Ancient Blueprint of Shitenno-ji

Founded in 593 AD, Shitenno-ji follows a unique "straight-line" layout influenced by ancient Chinese and Korean styles. Excavations confirm that the main buildings remain in their original positions since the Asuka period. A rare 1,200-year-old drainage system, built with Nara-period tiles to manage rainwater from the Golden Hall, was discovered preserved two meters beneath the current western path.
