Kuro Shoin (The Black Study)
The Kuro Shoin is a refined building within the Goten complex, reconstructed in the early 20th century. It serves as a more private and intimate space compared to the Shinden. Its name, "Black Study," is reflected in its darker wood tones and elegant ink-wash paintings (Sumi-e) on the sliding doors (fusuma), used primarily as a residence or reception area for distinguished guests.
