Chokushi-mon (Gate for Imperial Messenge
Rebuilt in 1913 by architect Kameoka Suekichi, this gate is renowned for its intricate carvings of phoenixes and peonies. Its design showcases the "Kameoka style," blending traditional motifs with the ornate artistic flair of the Taisho era. Historically, this gate was opened only for Imperial Messengers (Chokushi). Standing at the southern entrance of the Goten complex, it remains a majestic symbol of Ninnaji’s deep-rooted connection to the Japanese Imperial Family.
