The Vihara and the Prang
The architectural ensemble of the Vihara and the Prang at Wat Arun is one of the most harmonious artistic blends along the Chao Phraya River. The Vihara, or the Great Vihara, is a secondary building to the Ordination Hall, housing Phra Phuttha Narumit, the memorial Buddha image of King Rama II. Meanwhile, the Great Prang stands prominently as the temple's center, surrounded by four satellite prangs and four mandapas, reflecting a beautiful cosmological concept. Walking between the Vihara and the Prang reveals the intricate porcelain tile work and stucco designs that flawlessly link Buddhist narratives with architectural grandeur.
