The Great Prang of Arun Temple

The Great Prang of Arun Temple is one of the most magnificent and beautiful examples of Thai architectural prangs, standing approximately 81 meters tall on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. Its prominence lies in the elaborate decoration using porcelain shards, Benjarong ceramics, and ancient Chinese stoneware, meticulously arranged into exquisite floral and auspicious patterns. The main Prang is surrounded by four satellite prangs and four mandapas, adorned with statues of mythical creatures from Himavanta, celestial beings, and guardian giants, following the cosmological belief of Mount Meru as the center of the universe. At night, when illuminated, the Prang glows like gold against the sky, creating a breathtaking vista and serving as a global symbol that represents the unique identity of Thailand.
