The Principal Prang
The Principal Prang of Arun Temple is one of the most prominent and unique pieces of Thai architecture in Bangkok, standing approximately 81 meters tall. The Prang is decorated with pieces of Benjarong porcelain and ancient Chinese ceramics, meticulously arranged into exquisite floral and auspicious patterns. The base and various tiers are adorned with statues of giants, monkeys, and mythical creatures from Himavanta, reflecting ancient cosmological beliefs. The Prang was significantly expanded and restored during the reign of King Rama III, becoming the majestic architecture and world-renowned landmark it is today.
